CHECK YOUR ANSWERS

ALL THE SELECTIONS ARE BASICALLY ALREADY IN THE
CORRECT SEQUENCE

Of course this is keeping the selection process extra simple, but these items have to be chosen quickly and you need to be prepared to answer them. Read over the explanations below. Further details for every selection and more is found in the "WALKING THROUGH THE BLUEPRINTS" workbook and video tape.

BEFORE WORKING WITH THE BUILDER IN ABSOLUTE DETAIL

On the previous selection list from
"FLOOR PLAN ANALYSIS"
through
"COLOR SCHEMES

These selections represent preparation before actually meeting the builder for any of the final aspects. If you can have these decisions made ahead of time, you can clearly know if the floor plan is going to work for you and if any changes are going to be required. You are also much more prepared to answer the contractors questions and make your choices at a moments notice, which is sometimes all you have!

WHAT YOUR BUILDER NEEDS TO PROCEED WITH CONSTRUCTION

On the previous selection list from
"EXTERIOR COLORS"
through
"BUILT IN DRAWINGS"

These are called permanent features. The contractor needs to know these decisions in order to proceed with construction. In many cases, you will be required to select all of these items in one day. However, if you are building a truly custom home, this may not be a pre-requisite. A selection sheet is used and it is in a sequence. However the permanent features are often solid colors such as paint, carpeting, tile and countertops. If you have not chosen a "leading pattern" exemplified with wallpaper, fabric or art from which to pull these solid colors, it's difficult to know what will be the best choice.

BUILDING OR RENOVATING SHOULD BE A JOY,
NOT A NIGHTMARE.

Check over "COMPUTER TUTOR" for questions most asked. Treat yourself to the "WALKING THROUGH THE BLUEPRINTS" workbook and video tape. They will not only save you money, time and worry, but will also pay for themselves.
